Diary of a Fan

About:

Newcastle United

Newcastle United FC (nicknamed the Magpies due to their black and white shirts) were formed in 1892. They currently play in the English Premier League, finishing fifth in 2003/2004, claiming a place in the UEFA cup for next season. Almost the entire city of Newcastle supports "the toon", where football is practically a religion. The tide of black and white shirts on a match day is something to behold. More club information is available from nufc.com.

Diary of a Fan

Diary of a Fan grew out of my personal web pages. I used to have an NUFC section, which contained results and my thoughts much as Diary of a Fan does. Then I got my own blog and realised how much easier it would be to blog about Newcastle. Hence Diary of a Fan was born, based on those old pages but completly redisigned. The change over was made at the end of the 2003/2004 season, the first post on the live site being my thoughts on that season and for the future.

Diary of a Fan is designed to HTML 4.01 Strict and CSS 2 standards. It has been tested to be cross browser compliant. For those intested there are more more technical details.

The author

Diary of a Fan is written, designed and maintained by me, Ian Scott. I was born in 1977 and have been a fan since (before I was 24 hours old my mother placed the hospital radio headphones in my cot so I could listen to commentry of the match. We lost to 4-2 away to Derby County, but hey, I was hooked). As I'm writing this I'm actually also writing up my physics PhD thesis. As well as science, I also have an interest in web design, and football (obviously), hence these pages. My main web pages are located at http://www.norcimo.com/.
