Now much, much simplified... The metro bridge spans the Tyne The famous Gateshead multistory car park, seen from the top of Newcastle keep. The Hilton hotel is in the foreground with the south end of the High Level splitting off to the remains of Gateshead East and West stations beside it The flag flying from the top of the keep could do with replacing! Looking down on another piece of local colour scheduled to depart. The Tuxedo Princess nestles beneath the Tyne Bridge, with the Sage music centre behind The High Level Bridge sits right beside the keep. A familar sight towering above the quayside it's not often looked down on. The Greenfields railway works site can be seen on the far bank of the river The Millennium Bridge arcs across the Tyne, with the Tyne Bridge approach in the foreground almost unnoticed The modern roof level is quite high, leading to the parapet and entrances to the turrets being quite low. Here the Gateshead side of the river is seen The Swing Bridge stands more or less where the medieval bridge would have done, and this view shows how the keep (and associated castle) commanded the approach. The Hilton Hotel stares back, with the car park beyond
